The Stuart Wells team has been helping a distillery in Montrose, as it looks to increase the production of peat malt, an essential component of the whiskey distillery industry.

The company contacted Stuart Wells for advice on how to get information on their two existing water abstraction wells. The distillery wanted to know
how much water the wells could provide. Stuart Wells was engaged to
conduct well-condition surveys consisting of CCTV, verticality and caliper 
surveys and report on the results.

 The client now has the information they need to help assess and plan for the future.

Objective

A distillery has two water abstraction wells on their site, but they had no information on what they were, or the amount of water they can yield. Stuart Wells set out to provide the required information. 

Solution

Stuart Wells undertook well condition surveys including the monitoring of abstraction flow rates and taking water samples. After which we removed the pumps using a mobile crane to enable a geophysical survey using a CCTV camera, verticality & calliper logging, before reinstalling the pumps.
